A group of lifeguards who found thelselves swimming off the coast of new zealand in 2004 awe their lives to pack of dolphins . while out on a training swim rob howes said he and three female lifegurdds noticed strange behavoir coming a pod of dolphins nearby . the dolphins cirled the swimmers and began beating the water with their fins howes got outside of the grigle, at which point he noticed a huge great with shark nearby, as it drew closer the bolphins circled faster to create a frantic whirlwind of activity that the shark wanted no part of . even as a rescue boat arrived the dolphins did not leave untile every swimmer was safely out of the water .
